About Park City Curling Club
Park City Curling Club: From Borrowed Stones to Six Sheets
Park City Curling Club was founded in 2006 by Debbie Basrak, right after the Park City Ice Arena opened on Gillmor Way. The early days were scrappy: the club borrowed stones from the Ogden Curling Club, hauled them up for weekly league nights and drew the houses on the ice by hand with markers. In 2007 the arena bought its own curling equipment and painted the houses into the ice, letting the club grow onto six sheets of arena ice.
Today the club introduces more than 1,000 people a year to the sport through public learn-to-curl sessions, private and corporate events and an off-ice version called street curling. Members play in fall and winter leagues, with league games on Monday nights and teams competing under names such as the Ice Otters and the Rebel Rockers. Club teams also travel: the Park City Pirates took silver in the B bracket at the 2024 Cross Border Bonspiel in Calgary.
With Utah set to host the 2034 Winter Olympics, the club has set its sights on a dedicated curling facility in Park City before the Games.
