About Utah Olympic Oval Curling Club
Utah Olympic Oval Curling Club: Curling at a 2002 Olympic Venue
Utah Olympic Oval Curling Club curls inside the Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, in the Salt Lake Valley. The oval was built as the long-track speedskating venue of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and its ice is known as the fastest in the world, holding more Olympic records than any other rink. It remains open to the public year-round.
Curling at the oval dates from 2016, when the club was founded, and it lays out six sheets of arena ice, one of the larger curling setups in the Mountain West. The stones on the ice were used at the 2002 Winter Olympics. The oval runs learn-to-curl instruction alongside its skating and hockey programs, as well as Cosmic Curling nights, when a beginner lesson is followed by play on ice lit with blacklight and neon. The club is part of USA Curling’s Mountain Pacific region.
