About New York Caledonian Curling Club
New York Caledonian Curling Club: A Scottish Tradition Since 1855
The New York Caledonian Curling Club is one of the oldest names in American curling, dating to 1855, when Scottish immigrants in New York City organized the club. Like several historic metropolitan clubs, the Caledonians have long been a “paper” club, a membership organization without a rink of its own.
For decades the Caledonians shared ice at the Saint Andrews Curling Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, alongside the Ardwicks, a women’s club. When the Saint Andrews facility was torn down in the 1980s, the Caledonians moved their curling to the Ardsley Curling Club, whose dedicated rink sits behind the Ardsley Country Club in Westchester County. Today the Caledonians, Saint Andrews and the Ardwicks are all part of the Ardsley Curling Club, and the club remains a member of the Grand National Curling Club.
