About Ardsley Curling Club
Ardsley Curling Club: Westchester Curling Tradition Since 1932
Ardsley Curling Club has been curling in Westchester County since 1932, when William A. Kimbel and members of the Ardsley Racquet and Swimming Club founded it. That makes it one of the oldest curling clubs in the eastern United States, and it has been a member of the Grand National Curling Club since its first season. Before 1966 its members curled at Saint Andrews in Hastings-on-Hudson; that year the club opened its current building on North Mountain Drive in Ardsley-on-Hudson, on the grounds of the historic Ardsley Country Club.
The dedicated clubhouse holds three sheets of ice, played with red and yellow rocks, and the season runs from October through April. About 200 members fill nightly and weekend leagues, and the club hosts several bonspiels each season. Newcomers are welcomed through open houses, learn-to-curl sessions and Curling & Cocktails evenings.
Ardsley has produced nationally and internationally ranked curlers, among them Danny Casper and Bill and Andrew Stopera. Andrew Stopera, a three-time U.S. junior champion, qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The club also has an international streak of its own: in February 2017 it beat Scotland’s Royal Caledonian Curling Club, the sport’s mother club, 11–8.
