About Tri-City Curling Club
Tri-City Curling Club: Paper-Mill Country Curling Since 1958
Tri-City Curling Club is the curling home of Wisconsin Rapids, Port Edwards and Nekoosa, the paper-mill communities along the Wisconsin River in central Wisconsin. The club was founded in 1958 and first curled in Port Edwards, near the old YMCA on a former paper mill site. In 1976 it moved to its current building on Hurley Street, on Highways 54 and 73 between Wisconsin Rapids and Port Edwards, near the historical marker for the Centralia Dam. Some of the used stones the club bought in its first years are still in play.
Tri-City curls on two sheets of dedicated ice from November through March, with league nights on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday nights belong to learn-to-curl: a three-week December course on delivery and sweeping, followed by open curling for the rest of the season, with newcomers moving into leagues the next year. Members range from 8-year-olds to curlers in their late 80s, and the club counts Necedah’s Miles Brundage, a two-time Olympian in 1998 and 2002, among its heritage.
The open bonspiel kicks off each January, and the Men’s Invitational Bonspiel, which reached its 66th edition in 2025, brings 16 teams from across Wisconsin for a weekend capped by a Saturday prime rib dinner. The club belongs to the Wisconsin State Curling Association.
