About Medford Curling Club
Medford Curling Club – Taylor County Ice Since 1914
Medford Curling Club has been part of winter life in Medford, the Taylor County seat in north-central Wisconsin, since 1914. More than a century on, it remains one of the long-established clubs of the Wisconsin State Curling Association, curling in its own dedicated building on South Whelen Avenue with four sheets of curling ice.
For a small-town club, Medford has a notable record as a host of state and national events. In December 2013 it staged the 2014 United States Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, when sixteen teams played round-robin pools on Medford ice and Joyance Meechai and Steve Gebauer won the title, earning the right to represent the United States at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Scotland. In January 2019 the club hosted the Wisconsin State Senior Men’s Curling Championships.
The club sits in the middle of central Wisconsin’s busy curling country, a region where small-town clubs with their own ice are a fixture of the long northern winter.
