Green Mountain Curling Club: Vermont Curlers Who Cross the Border
The Green Mountain Curling Club, founded in 2005, is the curling club of Burlington and northwestern Vermont. With no dedicated curling ice in the area, the club found a creative solution: its members curl at the Bedford Curling Club in Bedford, Quebec, about ten minutes into Canada from the Interstate 89 border crossing, sharing two sheets of dedicated ice with their Canadian hosts.
The arrangement gives Vermont curlers access to proper curling ice and a taste of Quebec’s long curling tradition. The club is a member of the Grand National Curling Club, the regional association for the Northeast, and of the United States Women’s Curling Association.
