Granite Curling Club: Seattle’s Factory of National Champions

Granite Curling Club in north Seattle is the anchor of curling in the Pacific Northwest. The club was organized in 1951 and has curled in its own dedicated building since 1961, with five sheets of ice. It has grown into the fourth-largest curling club in the United States, with more than 500 members every season since 2009.

Granite is home to more national champions than any other American club: its curlers have collected 62 championship wins and medals in junior, men’s, women’s, mixed and doubles curling at national and world level. Its junior program, for ages 7 to 21, runs seasonal leagues and classes, and its alumni have gone on to win junior and adult national titles.

Weekly leagues cover all ages and abilities, and the club runs community instruction, adaptive curling certification, private group events and a high school program that earns PE credit. Through its outreach the non-profit introduces more than 7,000 people to curling each year.
