About Madison Curling Club
Madison Curling Club: A Century of Champions and Olympians
Madison Curling Club is one of the powerhouses of American curling. Planning began in 1919 and the club was established in 1921, spending its first eight years curling under the bleachers at the University of Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium. In 1930 it moved to Burr Jones Field, and in 1997 it opened its current six-sheet dedicated facility in William McFarland Park, just southeast of Madison.
It is also one of the country’s largest clubs, with 570 members in 2014 and 590 in the 2019-20 season. Madison teams have won six U.S. men’s and fifteen U.S. women’s championships, and the club has had at least one member on Team USA at every Winter Olympics since curling became a full medal sport in 1998. Its roster of stars includes 2018 Olympic gold medalist Matt Hamilton, four-time Olympian and 2003 world champion Debbie McCormick, and Erika Brown, an eight-time national champion and three-time Olympian.
The club has been a frequent national host, staging the U.S. Championships in 1968, 2001 and 2005, the 2005 U.S. Olympic Trials, and junior championships in 1975, 1987, 1994 and 2012.
