Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club: Six Sheets and a Trophy Case

The Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club was born on September 13, 1938, when a group of local business and professional men met to discuss forming a curling club; it was formally organized that November. The club took its present name in 1954, incorporated in 1956 and hosted its first invitational men’s bonspiel in December 1960. In November 2013 it opened its current home on 23rd Avenue South in Fargo, a dedicated facility with six sheets of ice.

With more than 500 members, it is one of the larger clubs in the country, and its teams win. Team Berg took the 2024 Men’s Club National Championship, Team Scheel won back-to-back Junior Women’s titles in 2022 and 2023, Team Workin won the 2018 Mixed Nationals and Team Podoll the 2017 Women’s Club Nationals. The club hosted the 2013 U.S. Olympic Curling Trials as well as national championships in 2011, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

Programs include member leagues, a business league, learn-to-curl instruction, youth and competitive youth curling and intramural college curling.
