Glacial Ridge Curling: Willmar’s Curlers Build Toward a Home of Their Own

Glacial Ridge Curling is the curling club of Willmar in west-central Minnesota, and the closest club for curlers across much of the central part of the state. Founded in 2004 as the Willmar Curling Club, it has since adopted the Glacial Ridge name. The club plays on arena ice at the Willmar Civic Center on Arena Drive, laying out five sheets in the Blue Line Arena.

Willmar has drawn national attention to the sport, hosting USA Curling’s Junior Nationals, and the club has grown steadily enough to pursue a dedicated curling facility. In 2025 a bill in the Minnesota Legislature proposed a $1.6 million state grant to Glacial Ridge Curling to design and build a new curling facility in Willmar.

The club reaches beyond its members with community events such as Battle of the Businesses, where company teams of two to four learn the game from club instructors and then play it out on the ice.
