About North Star Curling Club
North Star Curling Club: St. Cloud’s New Home for Curling
North Star Curling Club gave St. Cloud its first curling club in January 2023. Co-founded by president Nathan Lee and vice president Jessica Dahl, the volunteer-run nonprofit plays on the practice rink of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center at St. Cloud State University. Demand surprised even its founders: the first six learn-to-curl sessions sold out within days, a seventh was added, and close to 300 people learned the game that first January.
Two 10-week leagues filled almost immediately, with a short league added for the waitlist. The club has since grown to three Sunday leagues, running 10-week winter seasons and 5-week spring seasons that include a Learn to Curl league. It also supports youth curling, including the Sartell High School team, offers adaptive options and hosts private events.
Looking beyond borrowed hockey ice, the club is raising funds for a dedicated curling facility in the St. Cloud area, a project estimated at $5 million.
