About Loudoun Curling Club
Loudoun Curling Club: Northern Virginia’s Curling Hub in Leesburg
Loudoun Curling Club is the curling home of Leesburg and the wider Loudoun County, playing on arena ice at the Ion International Training Center on Compass Creek Parkway. Curling took root at Ion in the late 2010s under the facility’s curling program, with the five-sheet setup drawing up to 20 curlers on a Friday night and support from the long-established Potomac Curling Club in Laurel, Maryland. The players who gathered there formed the Loudoun Curling Club, which today serves as a hub for Northern Virginia curlers.
The club’s Friday-night league is a deliberately relaxed affair, a self-described “super chill” league where curlers of every level play side by side. Founding member Dave Brown, who also competes in regional bonspiels, leads much of the instruction. Learn to Curl sessions, 90-minute introductions to delivery, sweeping and strategy with all equipment provided, run through the winter, and the season also brings winter leagues, practice ice and social events.
